Production Concept: My Logo

To make my work look professional I have asked a UCA CG Arts and Animation student to help me create my title sequence. Being the babe she is she has also made me a couple of different logos which will fit with the title sequence she has planned. Check out her blog and see what you think of her designs.

Production Concept: Title Music

I have decided that I want to use Ke$ha - Die Young as my title music as it has a good beat and has a message which relates to my program. I don't know whether to use the original version or a combination of both but I will discuss this with the person who is making my title sequence. I knew that I would have to try and get permission to use this song and so I contacted Sony Music, who represents Ke$ha and explained my project and they gave me the email address of the head of copyright and licences. I emailed her but she hasn't replied yet. In my tutorial today Simon said I am allowed to use music in my show which I would be able to get permission for in the real world and I didn't need actual permission for this project and so I am still going to try and use the song.

Dissertation: Charlie's Angels - T&A TV

Through doing a bit of research I have found that Charlie's Angels was one of the shows from the 70's which was branded as "Jiggly or Tits & Ass Television" which means the show was filled with provocative language and innuendos and had very sexist plot lines.
In this article Farrah Fawcett, one of the original Charlie's Angels" comments about this.

Dissertation: Remakes

This is a podcast I found which is about the 2 Parent Traps and their differences.

Production Concept: Tutorial

Today I had a tutorial with Simon and it was really helpful. I showed him my production schedule and trailer breakdown and he was happy with both of them but he gave me some good feedback about my breakdown which I have taken on board and will add to my trailer. We both realised that it was no longer a trailer I was making because I had included links in it and laying out my video like a mini version of the program is what is going to sell it and so I have decided to do a taster rather than a trailer.

I am going to add a "coming up in the show" segment, a "coming up next week segment", credits and an explanation of the show. This will take it over 5 minutes but it will give a good idea of what the show will look like.

I need to make it clear to the audience that this show is different to anything they have seen before and I need to show this through the way its shot, what we show and what the presenters say.

For next week I will show Simon a new breakdown for my taster including shot ideas as well as a running order for 1 of my full episodes.

Production Concept: Planning My Time

Production Concept: Camden Research

I know that there has been a lot of documentaries, travel shows, Youtube videos about tourist attractions and with my taster video I want to get away from that and that is why I have chosen to visit Camden. I have had a look on YouTube and there are hardly any informative videos about Camden. These 2 were the only ones I could find and one of them is in German.

Production Concept: Commissioning Nikki

As part of my package I am going to produce a 3-5 minute taster of my show. I am going to base it in London as I don't have the budget to travel to any of my other destinations. I have began planning what I am going to show in this trailer and I plan on filming it in mid/ end of April.

I have commissioned Nikki in the year below to help me with the filming as I really like her style, she understands my project and I think we will work well together.

This is an example of her work that I really like.

I am going to edit together a video of shots that I like so that she can get a feel for how I want the show to look.

Production Concept: Series Inspiration

This YouTube channel has given me a lot of inspiration for my series on things to visit and how to film it.

Dissertation: Charlie's Angels Compared

These are the introductions to 4 different versions of Charlie's Angels. The first is from the 1976 to 1981 series, the second is from the 2000 movie, the third is from the 2003 movie sequel and the forth is from the 2011 series. I will look at all 4 and compare them to see if the gaze changes of the years. I will concentrate on the movie sequel the least as I the 2 films were filmed by the same director and also were only filmed 3 years apart and so there will not be alot to compare.

Production Concept: Brochure Research

I really like the layout of this brochure. I would like mine to look similar.

I also like this two from STA.

Production Concept: Inspiration for Brochure

I have decided that in my final package I would like to present all of my important documents and research in a holiday brochure type book. I have tried doing this myself on publisher but I know that I haven't got the skills to make it look professional and so I have contacted a few graphic designers to see if they would be able to help me make this.

I have gathered together a few examples of young holiday brochures which will give the graphic designers an idea of what I am looking for.

Production Concept: Inspiration for My Title Sequence

Today I met with 2 animators one of whom is a Ba Hons CG Arts and Animation graduate from Rochester UCA and the other who is in her second year on the course. I met with them both to discuss collaborating with them to make my title sequence. For the meeting I prepared this video of clips I had put together of title sequences and other videos I liked which I thought we would be able to get inspiration from. The main theme of the video is stop animation as I really like the way it looks and I think it is quite modern and would fit with the kind of show I'm trying to create. I added a few music samples to the video as well which I liked one of them was an instrumental which I found on Youtube and the other 2 are by well know artists so I will have to try and get permission to use them if I decided to go with one of those.

I also presented them with this document explaining what I wanted.

I listened to what both animators had to say and I really liked both their ideas. We are going to meet again at the end of next week so they can show me some visuals for their ideas and I can try and decided who I think is best for the job and which title sequence I think will fit best with my show

Production Concept: Sticking to the ITV Rules

I know that because I am pitching my idea for ITV2 I am going to have to comply with all their rules. I have found a few things on their websites which should help me and I will also give them a ring to get a better understanding on how I need to format all my documents and also what rules I have to follow when filming my extended trailer.

Production Concept: My Package

I have decided that I want to present all of my documents like my treatment, scripts, audience research, platform research etc in a holiday brochure type book and I want my 2 main presenters to have their own passports with their profiles in them.

I have tried doing this by myself on publisher and I have come to realize that I am not going to be able to do a very professional job as I'm not very creative with things like that so I am going to try and collaborate with a graphic designer to help me make these things.

Production Concept: The Origin of YOLO

In my package I am going to have to explain the title of my program. I found this video which explains how much YOLO is used.

Production Concept: Finding an Animator

Today I had a tutorial with Simon and I said the same as everyone else that this past week I had been concentrating on my dissertation rather than my production concept. He understood this and he gave me a few more things to focus on this week to do with my production concept such as thinking about music for my title sequence and getting permission for it if I needed it or commissioning someone to compose it, finding someone to create my title sequence and also getting organised with my extended trailer.

So today I left a comment on the Ba Hons CG Arts & Animation @ UCA Rochester Course Blog asking if anyone would be interested in making me a title sequence. I have already had 3 people respond to me saying that they would like to get involved and so I have contacted them explaining the project more and hopefully they will like the idea and will want to get involved.

Tomorrow I am also going to talk to a graphic designer to see if there is anything he can help me on and I am also going to ask my marketing friends what they can offer me which I can put in my package.
